"Love is not affectionate feeling, but a steady wish for the loved person’s ultimate good as far as it can be obtained."

- CS Lewis

Sometimes all you can do is cry out…

David Crowder’s “All I can say”

It’s being heard…

Text

“The Gospel says here’s how you know who you are and how you know you’re a person of value. Here’s your security and here’s your significance. You are absolutely and totally adopted, accepted, loved, treasured, and delighted in by the only Person in the whole universe whose opinion counts and whose opinion will last.

And because of that it doesn’t matter whether you had a good day or a bad day, a good week or a bad week, or whether your career is going well or not going well or whether people want to take you up or they don’t want to take you up; you are righteous in Him. You are loved in Him. You are son/daughter of the King. That’s you’re identity. “

- Tim Keller, Three Ways to live, June 2012

// warming my heart in this..

"But the gospel transforms us so our self-understanding is no longer based on our performance in life. We are so evil and sinful and flawed that Jesus had to die for us. We were so lost that nothing less than the death of the divine Son of God could save us. But we are so loved and valued that he was willing to die for us. The Lord of the universe loved us enough to do that! So the gospel humbles us into dust and at the very same time exalts us to the heavens. We are sinners but completely loved and accepted in Christ at the same time. …He saw your heart to the bottom and loved you to the skies."

- Tim Keller (Redeemer Presbyterian Church, New York City)

“And there will come a time, you’ll see, with no more tears.

And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.

Get over your hill and see what you find there,

With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.”

Mumford and Sons, “After the Storm”

Encouraged by this today..

Yes we have this hope — the renewal of all things; the making right of all the brokenness — because of His grace..and even now we have this:

“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:32

A prayer for the "Approval Suck" in us

We are so deeply loved….found such comfort and consolation from this song today…

Nichole Nordeman’s version of “How deep the Father’s love for us”

How deep the Father’s love for us
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the Chosen One
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon the cross
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed to hear my mocking voice
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that kept Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

Phil Wickham’s True love

The earth was shaking in the dark
All creation felt the Fathers Broken Heart
Tears were filling Heaven’s Eyes
The day that True Love died, the day that True Love died
When blood and water hit the ground
Walls we couldn’t move came crashing down
We were free and made alive
The day that True Love died, The day that True Love died

Search your heart you know you can’t deny it
Come on, lose your life just so you can find it
The Father gave His only Son just to save us

Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive
Jesus is alive
Oh, He is alive
He rose again

Naomi Zacharias speaks about going to places of suffering during a time of personal struggle. She speaks about her book “Scent of Water” and the organization Wellspring International which supports organizations that serve at-risk women and children. Just a very honest, poignant interview.
